LOW HEAD INDIVIDUAL RECIRCULATION SYSTEM

volver

A Low Head Individual Recirculation System, is described us a compact equipment attached to the tank and allows us to Retain Solids, do  Biofiltration and Pumping a lot of water from production tank to the area where the treatment equipment is located and return to the production tank. This system allows us to modify Hatcherys that are operating in Flow Through to convert these into Low Head Individual Recirculation System or Individual Reuse, without major complications.

Description

This is the most important operation of a (LHIRAS), is achieved through a static filter having the ability to trap the finer solids, this filter is composed of a fixed plastic substrate having the ability to capture at least 95% of suspended solids. This can be achieved due to short hydraulic circuit from tank discharge to the place where the treatment equipment is located, feces and over food, are not broken or dissolved in the process, creating better efficiency in removing suspended solids.

Solids
Filtration

Our Biofilter, has been built by a Horizontal Moving Bed Biofilter, with a capacity of 800 m2/m3 of Biological Support, it has a capacity for fixing Ammonium between 1 gr  to 2.3 gr of TAN/m2, as an area of Biological Support. the Biofilter also has the ability to degassing  by 20% of all the CO2 produced by bacteria and Fishes on the Tank.

Biofiltration

Degassing is done with the same AirLift Pump that moves water, this allows us to ensure a maximum of no more than 10 mg/lt of CO2 in each  production tank, with average densities of 40 to 50 kg/m3. Oxygenation is also performed with the same AirLift Pump, this ensures that we will have a injection of not less than 30%, of the total required O2 by the system.

Degassing & Oxygenation

The large volume of treated water goes from a range of 1.5 to 2.5 times per hour, produces a speed of at least 20 cm/sec, this speed allows optimum self-cleaning of the tank. The power consumption for moving a flow of 1 m3 /hr is 0.02 kw. Including Water Movement, Biofiltration Degassing and Oxygenation in this consumption.

Flow Rate & Hydraulic
in the Tank

The supply of fresh water is done independently directly to the production tank, this flow is measured with a flow meter, ensuring optimal use and control of water.

Income Fresh Water

As each tank production is maintained in a Single Recirculation therefore it has its own treatment system, so there is no risk of horizontal contamination, obtaining a greater system robustness against health problems or risks Biofilter operation.

We are in a permanent process of seeking improvements that optimize our equipment and systems even be more economical in the operation.

Currently our electricity consumption to move 1 m3 water/hour, for Recirculation System Individual Low Head (SRIBC) is 0.020 kW/hr.

To date we have built 3 Low Head Individual Recirculation Systems (LHIRAS) (800 m3, 200 m3 and 70 m3 respectively) operating with excellent results in water quality and fish production since 2012.

Our technology has the great virtue of being able to modify existing installations with the advantages of savings in investment, saving time for application for new projects and also to add value to the existing installation.

Future of Recirculation

Pre-Ongrowing of fish in recirculation systems to reach larger sizes before releasing them into the sea cages is a way of increasing profitability. The Norway and Chilean salmon Farming Induistry is investing in large recirculation facilities with the aim of producing smolt to larger sizes. Smolts are tipically 100 gram today when released in cages, an increase to 300 gram up before stocking will improve health and growth rates significantly in the farming period until harvest at marked size of 4–5 kg.
